Congrats to Madden NFL 13 Cover Athlete: Calvin Johnson aka Megatron
After months of debate, a 64 man-bracket contest, and Cam Newton calling out his skills in Madden NFL 12; yesterday Calvin Johnson put all of that aside and was named the cover athlete for Madden NFL 13.
On the set of a live SportsNation show in the middle of Time Square, Calvin Johnson shocked the world when his cover was unveiled in front of the world on a big jumbo tron. The Detroit Lions wide receiver is a good guy, modest, and doesn’t come off half as harsh as his competitor Cam Newton did in this matchup. Oh did I mention people were shocked, even Cam aka Killa Cam aka Ace Boogie aka Killah aka loser of the Madden NFL 13 Cover Vote. To be honest with you I voted Cam cause he’s a gamer, and if it was just a vote from gamers, it wouldn’t even had been close. The fact is that the world is voting and more people know Calvin Johnson than the 2nd year QB from Carolina.
I was there in Time Square when it all went down and got some great pictures, but I wish I would have got a video of Cam walking from that stage and into a secluded section of ABC Studios. You could tell Cam took this pretty hard and I wouldn’t be surprised if he did another video and challenge Megatron to a game … naw it won’t happen.
But congrats to Calvin Johnson aka Megatron; who will be the first WR to grace the cover by himself.
