Coleman likely on his way out after three seasons with Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons likely will release safety Erik Coleman sometime Tuesday, according to a league source.Coleman signed a four-year contract with the Falcons in 2008 and is due $2.5 million in base salary next season.

Coleman started every game for the Falcons in 2008 and 2009, but he started only once this past this season. He appeared in 12 games and made 20 tackles.

Coleman began his career with the New York Jets in 2004 and immediately became a starter, recording 100-plus tackles in his first three seasons. He had seven interceptions in that span.
